Saskatchewan is the newest member of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region.

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Bill Boyd made the announcement today at the PNWER Summit in Vancouver.

He mentioned that representatives from the partnership were in the province recently.  He says they had a chance to meet the Premier and the Cabinet, as well as MLAs.

Boyd says inter-provincial trade has been a top priority in their government, and the membership in PNWER will help maintain and expand relationships with the western provinces and the northwestern United States.

Boyd adds that Saskatchewan exports significant amounts of resources, such as uranium and oil, to the US on a daily basis.
