Saskatchewan has the fastest-growing population in Canada.

Statistics Canada says the province is home to over 1 million people again, for the first time in six years.

Premier Brad Wall says the growth means that the province needs a plan to take advantage of the growth.  He says with a higher population, people will pay lower taxes, and it will be easier to hire more nurses and medical professionals.

StatsCan says Saskatchewan's population is 1,003,299 as of October 1st, which is up 6,430 from July 1, 2007.
