"We are here."

That was the message from the Saskatchewan RCMP on Tuesday, four days and 36 cases of COVID-19 ago.

In the days since, the government has issued ever-increasing restrictions. Restrictions which culminated on Friday with Premier Scott Moe signing an order giving law enforcement agencies in the province full authority to enforce any orders from the chief medical health officer.

In the wake of the government's measures, the provincial RCMP released a statement stating that they were aware of the Public Health Order and would be working in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and the Public Health Officer to ensure compliance.

They add that during times such as this, public safety is critical and the new measures play an essential role in ensuring well-being during a rapidly evolving COVID-19 crisis.

In his press conference on Friday, the Premier stated firmly that all laws regarding self-isolation, travel and business restrictions in regard to COVID-19 would be enforced by law enforcement no differently than any other law in Saskatchewan.

For their part, the RCMP says that all calls received in regard to COVID-19 will be recorded appropriately and the best course of action will be determined in coordination with Public Health.
