SaskPower says it needs to raise rates in order to replace aging infrastructure, and meet future growth.

 

The Crown utility is asking the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel for a 7% system average rate increase, starting in August.

 

SaskPower acting President and CEO Garner Mitchell says there are record load increases on the system because of the growing economy.

 

If the request is approved, residential customers could see their power bills go up by about $6 a month, and farm customers would see their bills rise $16 a month.
