There may still be snow on the ground, but that's not going to stop campers from planning their summer getaways.

Reservations for Sask Parks 2018 seasonal camping sites launch today with applications for the seasonal sites available online.

Due to the high number of interested people, Sask Parks uses a lottery system to determine who will get what site at the various parks across the province.

"You can go online and access the application online and there you can download it and send it to the park of your choice, or you can apply for online, and that gets sent in," said Robin Campese, Executive Director of the Visitor Experiences Branch with the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.

"In the park, it's an actual physical draw - so each application is assigned a sort of number and ID. Those numbers literally go into a hat and they get drawn out, and sites get assigned based on that system."

Campese adds that there are 700 seasonal camping sites available, and the demand is greater than that, making the lottery system a fair way to decide.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, February 1, with the draws taking place Monday, February 5.
