The suspect in an armed robbery in Swift Current on January 8th and eight others across Western Canada is now behind bars

RCMP have arrested a man they believe committed nine armed bank robberies across Western Canada, including one in Swift Current, over the last two months.

A 26-year-old man was taken into custody by Mounties in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at a motel at around 2:30pm Friday afternoon.

The man is alleged to have robbed banks in eight different communities in Alberta and British Columbia since December 1st, and one in Swift Current on January 8th. The latest robbery linked to the suspect occurred this past Wednesday in Dawson Creek, BC.

RCMP have not released the suspect's name or any other details at this time, but more information is expected to be announced on Monday.
