Saskatchewan Government Insurance is facing about $62 million in property and auto claims after the storms that have hit Saskatchewan this summer.

SGI spokesman Tony Playter says the insurer has brought in more people to handle the extra claims.  He says they want to make sure their customers are looked after as quickly as possible.  The company is continueing to use independent adjusters to deal with the flood of files.

The summer of 2010 has seen an un-precedented amount of wild weather and summer storms in Saskatchewan including massive rainfall that caused floods in numerous communities, washed away highways, and left millions of acres of farmland damaged or unseeded.

Tornadoes and hailstorms have also hit many areas of the province and caused extensive damage.
