A snowstorm hits Shaunavon in 2011

It wasn't that long ago that a dump of snow got the southwest thinking about winter.

There won't be anything close to a threat of snow in the forecast this week, with temperatures approaching the 30s for the first week of fall, but the Town of Shaunavon is prepared for when that first big winter dump of snow hits.

"We budget close to $80,000 a year in our annual budget, not that the budget really matters as it is a priority... if it snows, we remove it," said Town Administrator Jay Meyer.

Meyer adds that safety will be the Town's first concern with snow removal being down first at the airport, then at the Hospital and thirdly Centre Street and other streets as needed after that.
