Shaunavon Forum
Last Night's Forum
Last night's Candidate Forum in Shaunavon was deemed as a success by Chamber of Commerce organizers.

Approximately 200 to 250 people came in to hear both candidates for Mayor and six of the eight candidates for Town Council speak.

"You sometimes think you know a candidate until you actually hear them speak. There might be people that you just missed and you all of a sudden hear what they have to say and they make sense to you, so I think it is very important that everybody hears from each of the candidates so that they know exactly where they stand on each of the issues," said Chamber President Joanne Gregoire. "I was very happy with the turn out. It was a very good cross section of the community and a lot of good questions came from the floor as well."

Each candidate had an opportunity to state their platform then questions were taken from the audience.

Questions varied from community safety issues to bylaw enforcement to encouraging small business to town.

Advance polls are open  today at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre Special Care Lobby from three until seven pm.

Election day is Wednesday October 24th.
