For the third year in a row, SIGA has been named one of Saskatchewan's top employers.

The annual competition, which began in 2006, is organized every year by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers Project.

Described as a special designation that recognizes Saskatchewan employers that offer an exceptional place to work, the award is judged on a number of criteria, including among others, work atmosphere, benefits, employee engagement and training and skills development.

Shauna Bear, the vice president of human resources for SIGA says that they are thrilled to win the award again for the third time, adding that they work hard to attract and retain talented people.

SIGA began operating in 1995, marking 25 years in 2020. She estimates about seventeen employees have been there from the first day, calling it a phenomenal statistic.

"We're a relatively young company still, but to have that many employees working with us since day one or have over 20 years of service. It's something that we're very proud of and speaks I think to our great environment that we provide here at SIGA."

She says that continuously monitoring their work environment and obtaining feedback from employees plays a fundamental part in their success and is as important as core training and skills development.

She credits that environment with not only talent acquisition but also retention of employees of all ages, speaking highly of the organization's senior and elderly workforce.

"They're great. They give back to their communities. They volunteer. They contribute to the organization's success."
