For the second day in a row, the Saskatchewan government reported that a new record for single-day doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

The update released Sunday afternoon indicated there were 18,995 doses administered. This brought the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 590,952. The second consecutive record was attributed to the expanded capacity through the rollout of the vaccines to include pharmacies.

With the nearly 20,000 doses administered, now 66 percent of those over the age of 30 have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 57 percent of those over the age of 18. The second step of the Re-Opening Roadmap will be achieved when 70 percent of those over 30 have received a first dose, and it has been three weeks since the start of the 1st step. The 1st step starts on May 30th, meaning the earliest it could start is June 20th.

There were 5,805 doses administered in Regina, and 5,796 in Saskatoon. Another 1,328 were administered in the Central East, 1,132 in the South Central zone, 1,083 in the South East, 960 in North Central, 665 in the North West, 626 in the North East, 525 in the South West, 319 in the Central West, 170 in the Far North East, 87 in the Far North West and nine in the Far North Central. There were also 490 doses administered with the zone of residence still pending.

Currently, those over the age of 20 are eligible to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment, with the age of eligibility being lowered to 18 on Tuesday. Starting Monday, those who are 85 or older, or received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine before February 15th, will be eligible to book an appointment for their second dose. Online booking for second doses, however, will not be available right away. That capability is expected to be made available in the coming days.
