Former Broncos goaltender Stuart Skinner stopped 33 shots for his first NHL playoff shutout as the Edmonton Oilers blanked the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 to take a 3-1 lead in their first-round series. 

Skinner, who made his 16th career postseason start, became the eighth Oilers goaltender to post a playoff shutout and the first since Mike Smith made 29 saves in Edmonton's game seven win over the Kings in the first round of the 2022 playoffs.

Evan Bouchard scored the lone goal of the game for the Oilers, who host game five on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Elias Lindholm scored 1:02 into overtime as the Vancouver Canucks rallied to beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 and take a 3-1 lead in their series. Brock Boeser scored all three regulation goals for the Canucks, including the tying goal with just eight seconds left in the game. Game five is tomorrow in Vancouver. 

Also, Valeri Nichushkin had a hat trick and the Colorado Avalanche put the Winnipeg Jets on the brink of elimination with a 5-1 win in game four, and the New York Rangers completed a four-game sweep of the Washington Capitals with a 4-2 win on Sunday. 

Tonight, the Florida Panthers host Tampa Bay after the Lightning forced game five of that series with a 6-3 win at home on Saturday, and the Vegas Golden Knights take a 2-1 series lead into a home matchup with the Dallas Stars, who picked up a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday.

WHL Conference Finals tied after opening games

Braden Yager and Fraser Minten had the overtime winners as the Moose Jaw Warriors and Saskatoon Blades split the opening games of the WHL's Eastern Conference Final. Moose Jaw picked up a 4-3 win on Friday before the Blades rebounded with a 3-2 victory on Saturday. Game three is in Moose Jaw on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Prince George Cougars snapped Portland's eight-game playoff unbeaten streak with a 5-0 win on Friday before the Winterhawks picked up a 5-3 win on Saturday to even up the Western Conference Final. Portland will host the next three games of the series starting tonight.

In the SJHL, the Flin Flon Bombers stayed alive in the Canterra Seeds Cup Final with a 5-2 win over the Melfort Mustangs in game five on Saturday at the Whitney Forum. The Mustangs lead the series 3-2 and can still clinch the title with a victory on Tuesday in Melfort. Game seven, if needed, will be in Flin Flon on Saturday.

Kirk goes 3-for-3 as Jays salvage series with Dodgers

Alejandro Kirk went 3-for-3 with a home run and Kevin Gausman pitched seven solid innings for his first victory of the season as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the LA Dodgers 3-1 to avoid a three-game sweep and snap a five-game losing skid. 

The Jays welcome the Kansas City Royals for a three-game set starting tonight. Yariel Rodriguez will start the opener for Toronto.
