Following a brief meeting yesterday afternoon, the Chinook School Division has set its mill rate for 2008.

The mill rate is set to increase this year to 23.7, which is an increase of 0.9 over last year.

Board Chair Randy Beler says there were several factors that went into setting their final projections.  He says the Maple Creek Comprehensive High School is the biggest project, but there will be work done in Swift Current, Gull Lake, Eastend, and Val Marie.

The Division is responsible for half of the cost of the projects.

Beler adds that additional funding through the mill rate will be used to help balance the budget and fund new capital projects.
