The Swift Current Comprehensive High School was bustling this past weekend as they hosted this badminton season's SWAC Senior District Tournament.

The tournament took place on Saturday, with over 60 athletes, parents, spectators, and supporters from across the southwest gathered in the upstairs viewing area overlooking the Comp gym.

From Swift Current, Saryn Allan and Jacob Parkinson received second place in mixed doubles, Austin Evans and Tate Unger achieved second in boys' doubles, and Lauren Hanson and Nalani Chan finished in third place for girls' doubles.

The Comp's mixed and boys doubles teams will be moving on along with Maple Creek teams, Tealyn Whitefish, Savannah Frey, and Aydan Buss, Sharmaine Palaganas from Ponteix, Hunter Stock from Hazlet, Leader teams David Cocks, Karter Ries, Natalie Cocks, Addison Banks, Gull Lake's Chase Collier and Brynne Leppa, and Pierce Schmidt from Val Marie.

A canteen was available near the east gym doors and all eight courts were used for the day-long tournament, with Haleigh Rempel as the commissioner and Trish Carleton as the draw master.

The southwest athletes will head to Rosetown on Saturday, May 4 for the 'Series A' SHSAA Regional Tournament to face off against athletes from South Central, Central Valley, and West Central areas.

Regionals will qualify two successful players to enter this year's SHSAA Provincial Playoffs, coming up in Nipawin on May 11.
