A special sod turning ceremony was held Saturday afternoon at Lac Pelletier to mark the beginning of construction of a new water treatment plant for the Regional Park.

Cypress Hills Grasslands MP David Anderson was one of the guest speakers on Saturday.  He says the project at Lac Pelletier was a good fit for funding under the government's Building Canada program:

Other guest speakers included Wood River MLA Yogi Huyghebaert, who was speaking on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, and John Froese, Chairman of the Lac Pelletier Regional Park Authority Board.

The price tag for the new plant is $650,000 with the cost being split between federal, provincial, and local government.

Construction is expected to be complete in 2011.
