A sod turning ceremony was held at the Maple Creek Composite High School yesterday to start the renovations and addition to the school.

An additional 895 square meters is going to be added to the school, and energy efficiency is going to be improved by at least 25 percent.

Chinook School Division Board Chair Roland Falk says this project will meet the needs and priorities of the Maple Creek school community.

Education Minister Ken Krawetz says the new Maple Creek Composite High School will provide a safe, comfortable, and attractive place for students to learn.

The estimated cost of the renovations and addition is over $9 million.
