After axing half a million dollars in funding for the provincial Dutch Elm Disease program, the Brad Wall government has made a slight change to their decision.

The funding was cut as part of the provincial budget last month.  The program allowed communities and RMs to monitor for the fast-spreading tree disease.  It also allowed for the removal of infected trees.

The province has re-instated $100,000 of the program for monitoring, but says RMs will have to pay for tree removal.
