The Town of Shaunavon recently received MEEP funding in the amount of $246,350.

MEEP is a grant based program used for shovel ready infrastructure projects and initiatives to help keep municipalities strong during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of that money that the town received, there was $30,000 allocated for Ball Diamond Safety.

Director of Operation for The Town of Shaunavon, Ron Phillips, says they are currently doing some work on the dugouts on Diamonds number two and three.

Other town infrastructure projects that are part of the MEEP funding are the fifth Avenue Walkway, some Town Hall improvements, Memorial Park upgrades and additions, the Shaunavon Dog Park and The Grand Coteau Center.

Phillips added that the large brown bleachers that are at Diamond number three are a loan from The Boomtown Cup Committee, who had them built for their races in July, and they allow the town to use them throughout the rest of the summer.
