A year ago today southwestern Saskatchewan awoke to a large blanket of snow and while that might be the case across parts of the province tomorrow, it won't be the case in the Swift Current region.

Environment Canada is projecting the white fluffy stuff to hit the central part of Saskatchewan beginning tonight and carrying into tomorrow.

"In the southwest, it looks like they're going to be skirting this system [coming in from Alberta]," Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang said. "Most of the precipitation will be along the Yellowhead and northward and eastward."

Instead, the southwest could experience periods of rain tonight with an expected overnight low of 1 C.

"Thankfully the temperature will stay above freezing but something to keep in mind for those driving, if the temperature does dip below freezing, you could get some black ice," she said.

Environment Canada has the chance of precipitation in Swift Current tonight at 60 per cent and tomorrow morning at 30 per cent.
