A second southwestern Saskatchewan community will be getting a Tim Hortons.

Tim Hortons is opening up a new location in Maple Creek this summer, developed by Canalta Construction.

Maple Creek's Mayor, Michelle McKenzie, said that the location will be easy to access for townsfolk and people traveling.

"People that have Tim Horton's cravings traveling from Swift Current to Medicine Hat, if they want, can turn off the highway coming to Maple Creek," she said.

Not only will the new franchise to Maple Creek create a handful of jobs, it will also drive a bit of an economic boom.

"I think once the balls gets rolling, we will quickly see unique shops popping up in the downtown helping further boost the economy," McKenzie elaborated.

Construction is slated to begin later this month. As for when it will be finished, McKenzie is hopeful for an early opening day.

"Depends on how construction goes," she said. "Maple Creek is beautiful in the summer, so we know we will probably get that June opening instead of July."

The location chosen is north of Maple Creek’s railway tracks, near the Co-op gas bar and ball diamonds if you want to see the early construction.
