Duncalfe and Wall earn gold at Canada Games

The Canada Games wrapped up yesterday with two more southwest athletes earning medals with Team Saskatchewan.

Swift Current’s Griffin Duncalfe and Wymark’s Shaye Wall helped the men’s volleyball team win gold with a three sets to one win over Team Alberta, one of three gold medals and 38 overall for the province.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan finished eighth in men’s box lacrosse with Cameron Greenley and Carter Michaluk on the roster.

The next Canada Games are in Prince Edward Island next winter.

Lions beat Riders, but at what cost?

The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost 28-10 to BC on Friday night, but a bigger loss could face the Lions.

The two teams play again in Vancouver on Friday.

Blue Jays bust Yankees' slump

The Toronto Blue Jays fell 4-2 to New York on Sunday as the Yankees avoided the sweep and won for just the 10th time since the All-Star break.

Andrew Benintendi hit a tie-breaking two-run homer for the Yankees in the seventh inning. Whit Merrifield hit a bizarre home run in the fourth inning for Toronto that bounced twice on the fence before going over.

The Jays open a three-game series in Boston tomorrow.
