A week after Canada celebrated its 150th birthday, the village of Stewart Valley held their Canada 150 festivities.

The day started off with a traditional pancake breakfast followed by a parade, which was led by a notable resident.

"We had a very nice parade today," said Clark McConnell, organizer of Stewart Valley's Canada 150 celebrations. "We were very pleased to have Travis Moen as our parade marshal, he's always been a hero in Stewart Valley and always will be."

Following the completion of the parade, people of all ages enjoyed a wide variety of activities including antique displays, old tractors and water cool engines on exhibit, with plenty of games for the kids to enjoy.

Local entertainment was also at the forefront of the event with performances from Don Hussey, Gordie Nodge and cowboy poet Bryce Burnett.

The full lineup of events carried over into the evening beginning with a roast beef supper held at the school.

Closing out the celebrations on stage was Lacadena's own SISTERS, a well-known country duo.

The fun-filled day was capped off by a nice display of fireworks.
