An early morning run for 43 participants this past weekend helped raise important funds for the Southwest Youth Emergency Shelter (Southwest YES).

The third annual Southwest Run for Shelter held on Saturday raise approximately $3,000-4,000 for Dorie's House.

"Our run was really successful again this year," Betty McDougall Executive Director with Southwest YES said.

The funds raised from this year's event will go towards covering staffing costs for Dorie's House.

"All of our fundraising dollars go to staffing costs," McDougall explained. "As many people are aware, we do not receive any government funding at this time, so every fundraiser we have, the funds are then allocated to our payroll."

The run featured four difference distances: 5km, 10km, half marathon and a full marathon.
