Wait times for surgical patients in Saskatchewan continue to go down.

The Provincial Ministry of Health says 90% of paitents are receiving thier surgeries within six months and 78% within three months of diagnosis.

"We're certainly pleased with the progress we've made to this point," said Saskatchewan Health Minister Dustin Duncan. "We know that when we formed government in 2007, Saskatchewan had some of the longest wait lists for surgeries in all of Canada, so we've really made a concerted effort to reduce our wait times, especially for those people waiting more than 12 months and 18 months.

"I think it's important to note that we've made tremendous progress on wait times since forming government in 2007. The number of patients that arewaiting more than 18 months for surgery is down 92%," he added.

Duncan adds that by April 2013 they hope to get to 100% of surgeries being completed within six months, and are aiming to have no one wait longer than three months for surgery by the year 2014.
