Swift Current stood behind an NHL legend's push to support victims of child sex abuse.

Twenty-five walkers gathered this morning for a Victor Walk through the city, coinciding with the end of Theo Fleury's own walk from Toronto to Ottawa.

Fleury, who was sexually abused as a teenager by his former hockey coach, started the Victor Walk to raise awareness about childhood sexual abuse.

Tracy Neusteater, the coordinator for the local Victor Walk, felt it was important to bring the walk to Swift Current after the issue hit home.

Full Interview with Tracy Neusteater "Two years ago my little girl told me she has been abused and after I dusted myself off and picked myself up, I realized the reason why it is such a huge problem in society is because nobody talks about it and nobody knows how big an issue it really is," added Neusteater.

"I would say we had about twenty-five walkers and we had six motorcycle riders from Bikers Against Child Abuse. They drove down from Saskatoon to support us."

The walkers held a fundraising barbecue that lasted until 1:30  at Market Square. You can also learn more about the walk and donate online at victorwalk.com.
