Swift Current Minor Baseball held their fourth-annual awards night at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex auditorium last night.

The event also allowed an opportunity for funds to be raised for a critical washroom facility upgrade.

Headed into the event, the SCMB board of directors were hoping for between $8,000 - $10,000 of the approximately $25,000 cost of the project. Fundraising totals from the silent auction will be available later this week.

As well, long-time Toronto Blue Jays catcher, and current Canadian men's national team manager Ernie Whitt was the guest speaker for the event.

He reminisced on moments from his notable career, spoke on growing a passion for the game of baseball, and answered a slew of questions from players and parents alike.

Whitt spoke after the event, and in between autographs, on his first trek to southwest Saskatchewan.
