The halls are all decked out at the Swift Current Museum for the return of their annual Festival of Minis, which takes off tomorrow.

Local charities have decorated mini-Christmas displays that folks can put ballots on to win, with all proceeds going right back to the organizations themselves.

Corla Rokochy, education and program coordinator for the museum, said the festival is free for anyone to attend.

"If people want to, they can buy ballots to put in; they're a dollar each," she explained. "You can buy as many as you like and 100 per cent of those funds go to each of the different charities. So, it's a great family event and then it also benefits a lot of great local charities and organizations."

Ballots enter folks in a chance to win the display, and each mini decorated tree will be going home with a lucky family after the draws are made on December 16, the last day of the festival.

The mini displays are available for browsing during the museum's regular opening hours, with some special guests making an occasional appearance throughout the weeks.

"We will have special times for people and families to come and have their picture taken with the Grinch and Elsa, those are on Saturdays," Rokochy said. "And like our previous festival, during the regular festival hours the Grinch will be here, but he's frozen by Elsa. So, he's there and you can have your picture with him, but Elsa has frozen him, so he doesn't move."

And of course, Santa Claus will also be making appearances on Fridays and Mondays throughout the festival, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

There will also be other prizes such as jewelry and gift certificates for those who would like to head down to support local charities and the museum, but maybe don't have room for another tree in their homes.
