Students and advisors from the Swift Current Comprehensive High School and the College recently had the opportunity to attend the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce's Second Annual Business Connect Banquet.

Over 50 students attended the evening and Business Teacher from the Comp, Cindy Lowe, said it was a true learning experience for them. "So, it's a mentorship piece for one. Initially to help the students with interview skills and, ya know, that table talk conversation that happens at business events. Besides, on top of that, for  students to get that kind of experience one on one with a business person."

The students were each tasked with visiting and networking with the business people in attendance.

Lowe says the students would never have had an opportunity to get this kind of mentorship anywhere else, and this one of a kind event in southern Saskatchewan shows the true commitment that the business community in Swift Current has towards the youth.

She added that she has organized and facilitated many events with students over her 17 year teaching career, and this event ranked close to the top.
