The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation announced its provincewide one-day strike last week, hoping to prompt the government to allow their negotiating committee to return to the bargaining table.

Teachers across the province will be gathering at demonstration sites in several communities today, while STF President Samantha Becotte and Canadian Teachers’ Federation President Heidi Yetman will deliver letters to the Premier and Minister at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building.

Demonstration locations in Swift Current include outside of the Co-op mall on Central Avenue and the office of MLA Everett Hindley. STF members in the Maple Creek area will meet at the town's Royal Canadian Legion on Maple Street.

According to the STF, if the government’s resistance continues, additional job action will follow today's strike.
