The provincial government is urging teachers not to let their strike jeopardize final exams next month for Grade 12 students.
About 12,000 teachers plan to walkout today and tomorrow to back contract demands.
Teachers have been without a contract since August and are looking for a wage increase of 16.3 per cent over three years.
The government calls that ``unrealistic.''
