Swift Current is home to the Canadian Mixed Curling Champions.

Max Kirkpatrick and his team from the Swift Current Curling Club won the national championship Saturday with a 7-4 win over Jamie Koe and the Northwest Territories in the final. Team Saskatchewan beat BC 7-4 in the semi-final in the morning to earn the spot in the gold medal game.

The team of Kirkpatrick, Jolene Campbell, and Chris and Teejay Haichert lost just twice at the event in North Bay, Ontario en route to winning gold. The gold medal is also the 10th for Saskatchewan in the history of the CanadianMixed Curling Championships.

Kirkpatrick's team will now represent Canada at the first-ever World Mixed Curling Championships, which will be held next September at a city to be announced.
