Get ready to "ring those phones" next weekend for Telemiracle 36.

The 20-hour telethon will raise money to help people with special needs in our province, and will again feature some great entertainment, from big-name stars to homegrown talent.

"Over 200 people come out and audition for the show, and out of that, 52 have been chosen to perform," said Telemiracle 36 Committee Chair Craig McGillivray. "People are going to be very, very impressed with what they see, everything from the young to the young-at-heart." Swift Current's Central School Choir is among the telethon's local performers this year.

McGillivray adds there's a lot of volunteer work behind it this year's event: "During the show, we have 1200 volunteers, Kinsmen and Kinettes from across Saskatchewan, that look after answering phones, food services, security, and transportation of the national cast and the volunteers."

Last year, Telemiracle 35 raised over $4.6 million, and McGillivray says although they don't set a goal any year, they are hoping to surpass that total this year. The single-year record was set in 2007 with $5.6 million raised during Telemiracle 31.

The telethon starts Saturday, March 3rd, at 9:00pm from the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, and runs to 5:00pm the next day, and will be broadcast live on CTV Saskatchewan.
