The 8th Annual Braydon Coburn Hockey School is happening all this week in Shaunavon at The Crescent Point Wickenheiser Center.

One hundred and thirty kids are registered this year. Greg Coburn from the Organizing Committee said they have a full week planned.

"The mornings is usually when Braydon's on the ice, and so it's more focused into hockey skill, development, learning the game, learning stopping, that kind of stuff. And then we have a power skating company out of Medicine Hat coming and doing power skating in the afternoon,"

Coburn added they also have goalie training throughout the week.

The school features Shaunavon's own NHL defenceman with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Braydon Coburn, as well as his brother Greg, Andrew Johnson, Turner Ripplinger, and other Shaunavon natives, Dyson Stevenson, Kale Kessy, Kole Lind, and Kain Stevenson.

Coburn said he believes the Hockey School is so successful because of the huge roll Braydon plays in it coaching the kids on the ice and the fact that they strive to keep the registration's fees low so all kids can take part.

The public is welcome to come out to watch.

All proceeds from the Hockey School go back into the community.
