In the June 16 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting 74 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 74 new cases there is 1 in the Far North West zone, 4 in the North West zone, 5 in the North Central zone, 4 in the North East zone, 16 in the Saskatoon zone, 4 in the Central West zone, 6 in the Central East zone, 29 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 3 in the South East zone.

There is 1 new case in the South West zone-in subzone 1.

Nine residents tested out of the province were added as follows - 2  to the Far North East zone, 1 to the North East zone, 3 to the Saskatoon zone, 1 to the South Central zone, and 1 to the South East zone. One case has pending residence information.

One case deemed to be an out of the province resident was removed from the Far North East count.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 48,125, of which 726 are considered active.

There are 19 active cases in the South West zone - 3 in South West subzone 1, and 16 in South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of  new COVID-19 cases is 72 (5.9 new cases per 100,000 population). This is the lowest seven-day average since November 1, 2020.

There are 76 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 46,837.

There are 2 new deaths reported. One death was reported in to 80+ age group from North West zone, and one death was reported in to 70-79 age group from the Central East zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 562.

There are 92 people in the hospital. Eighty people are receiving inpatient care - 10 in the North West zone, 8 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 28 in the Saskatoon zone, 4 in the Central East zone, 22 in the Regina zone, 3 in the South Central zone, and 2 in the South East zone.

There are 2 people receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 12 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 1 in the North Central zone, 6 in the Saskatoon zone, and 4 in the Regina zone.

To date there has been 893,330 COVID-19 tests processed in the province.

And yesterday there were 2,140 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of June 15 there were a total of 11,787 variants of concern cases identified by screening - 286 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 80 in the Far North East zone, 754 in the North West zone, 594 in the North Central zone, 79 in the North East zone, 2,037 in the Saskatoon zone, 129 in the Central West zone, 631 in the Central East zone, 4,747 in the Regina zone, 870 in the South Central zone, and 1,113 in the South East zone.

There were a total of 398 in the South West zone.

There are 68 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 5 new lineage results reported.

Of the 6,443 variants of concern cases identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 6,134 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 231 are Gamma (P.1), 68 are Delta (B.1.617.2), and 10 are Beta (B.1.351).

An additional 12,013 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the province, bringing the total number administered to 922,335.

Of those 12,013 vaccine doses given, there were 253 administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-nine percent of those over the age of 40, 74% of those over 30, 69% of those over 18, and 67% of those over 12 have received their first vaccine dose.

Effective Thursday June 17 at 8 a.m. second dose vaccination eligibility will open to residents age 45 years and older or anyone who received their first dose on or before May 1.
