In the May 7 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 295 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 295 new cases there are 2 in the Far North West zone, 5 in the Far North East zone, 33 in the North West zone, 17 in the North Central zone, 9 in the North East zone, 98 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central  West zone, 10 in the Central East zone, 68 in the Regina zone, 7 in the South Central zone, and 32 in the South East zone.

There are 9 new cases reported in the South West zone - 5 in the South West subzone 1, and 4 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 4 new cases with pending residence information.

Two cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 to the North West zone, and 1 to the Regina zone.

Twenty-four cases tested out of the province were added as follows - 7 to the North West zone, 1 to the North Central zone, 5 to the Saskatoon zone, 1 to the Central West zone, 2 to the Central East zone, 4 to the Regina zone, 1 to the South East zone, and 1 to the South West zone.

Two cases tested out of the province are pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 42,695, of which 2,239 are considered active.

There are 86 active cases in the South West zone - 61 in the South West subzone 1, and 25 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 221 (18.0 new cases per 100,000 population).

There is one new death reported in the 70-79 age group from the South West zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 502.

There are 174 people in the hospital. One hundred and thirty-six people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North East zone, 8 in the North West zone, 3 in the North Central zone, 4 in the North East zone, 62 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central East zone, 46 in the Regina zone, 3 in the South Central zone, and 5 in the South East zone.

There are 2 people receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 38 people  in intensive care - 2 in the North Central zone, 12 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, 20 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the South Central zone.

There were 237 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 39,954.

To date, there has been 793,271 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 3,652 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of May 6 there were a total of 7,905 variants of concern cases identified by screening in the province - 172 in the Far North West zone, 6 in the Far North East zone, 262 in the North West zone, 190 in the North Central zone, 43 in the North East zone, 930 in the Saskatoon zone, 90 in the Central West zone, 339 in the Central East zone, 4,119 in the Regina zone, 576 in the South Central zone, and 817 in the South East zone.

There were a total of 246 variants of concern cases in the South West zone.

There are 115 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 27 new lineage results reported.

Of the 3,031 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 2,986 are B.1.1.1.7(UK), 36 are P.1 (Brazilian), and 9 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 10,530 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the province, bringing the total number of vaccine administered to 491,440.

Of the 10,530 vaccine doses given, there were 43 administered in the South West zone.

Next week's scheduled Moderna shipment of 31,000 doses has arrived early. Shipments totaling 30,200 doses arrived in Saskatchewan yesterday, with the remaining 800 doses expected to arrive today. They are now being distributed to vaccination clinics, First Nations and participating pharmacies province-wide.

The Vaccination Booking System open to ages 32 and older on Saturday May 8.

It remains 18 and over for the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District. 

This applies to all immunization clinics: booked appointments, drive-thru/walk-ins, pharmacies and mobile clinics.
