UPDATE: Representatives of the Town of Maple Creek and CUPE Local 2714 met last evening and have come to a tentative agreement on their negotiations.

The Union will vote on the tentative agreement on October 19, 2021.

This means that no lock out will occur and municipal workers will remain on the job.

The Town of Maple Creek has announced that a Collective Agreement with their town employees, who are members of CUPE Local 2714, expired December 31, 2021.

After negotiations with the Union that ran from this past February through to September, the town employees union, on October 1, 2021, provided notice to the Town that its members had voted 100% in favor of job action, including a full withdrawal of services.

The Town of Maple Creek has announced this morning that it will lock employees out on midnight October 6, 2021, as provided for in the Saskatchewan Employment Act.

This lock out will impact the service levels to Maple Creek residents and the Town thanks residents for their patience and understanding as they continue to strive to work towards reaching an agreement.
