A third candidate has been declared for the upcoming Swift Current byelection.

Aidan Roy, of Weyburn, will represent the provincial Liberals in a riding where Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party have held since taking over from the NDP in 1999.

The interim leader of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party, Tara Jijian, looks forward to adding to the dialogue in the area by running a candidate.

"It will change the conversation and give some perspective to different things," she said. "Like we have a kind of different perspective on carbon tax than the Sask Party of course."

Of Roy, Jijian said he's "young and innovative... from small-town Saskatchewan."

The Liberals are against fighting a carbon tax in court, as they don't feel it's a battle the province can win. They want to get rid of personal income tax, and replace that with the money they bring in through the carbon tax.

Check back to hear from Roy this afternoon.
