It's been a popular destination for people in Swift Current and area, and Thomson Lake Regional Park is celebrating a milestone this year.

The park, located between Gravelbourg and Lafleche on Highway 58, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2010, and celebrations are being held today to mark it.

Brian Tallon of Swift Current sits on the Park Authority Board, and says over the last 50 years, the park has seen a lot of growth.

Admission to the park today is free, and the events include a pancake breakfast, performances by Saskatchewan Express, a model airplane show, a parade and a beef on a bun supper.

Tallon adds they've got a special celebration planned for this afternoon.

Thomson Lake was the first Regional Park to be incorporated in Saskatchewan.
