At 3:31 p.m. Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Swift Current and surrounding areas.

Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Scattered thunderstorms are developing over northern Montana this afternoon. This area of thunderstorms is expected to increase in coverage and track into southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan this evening. Some of these thunderstorms could reach severe thresholds. The threat for severe thunderstorms will diminish late this evening.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
