Town Of Ponteix Remembers Prominent Community Member

A funeral mass for Father Raymond Carignan of Ponteix will be held next week.

Father Carignan was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 13 near Kincaid on Boxing Day in very icy road conditions.

The service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00pm from the Notre Dame D'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church in Ponteix.

Parish member, Guy Roberge remembers the 69 year old fondly and says he will be missed. "He was a good priest very devoted, very involved," says Roberge. "Just a kind person. It fit him, he was in his element and very dynamic."

Roberge is expecting the funeral to be the biggest funeral that Ponteix has ever seen.

The family is asking that donations in Father Carignan's memory be made to Camp Lemieux, Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home and Bridges Care Centre.
