Canada’s 150th birthday is finally upon us. There will be countless events happening locally and in surrounding area. On summer holidays like this one, keep in mind the highways are filled with people travelling with family and friend. Getting to a destination safely is of the utmost importance, and there are steps one can take to ensure a safe trip.

Before getting on the road, inspecting the vehicle should be a first step. If the vehicle has any lose or flat tires, repair them before getting on the road. Another tip would be to have a friend or family member help you check to see if all signal lights and break lights are working.

One more step before hitting the road is making sure that all passengers are buckles up safely. Small children should have a care seat that should follow safety regulations.

Its now time to hit the highways. Stay alert and never drive tired. If one does feel under slept, have a friend or family member drive instead. Arriving alive is always better than never arriving at all. Drive the speed limit and be patient, careless driving can be fatal to the driver, passenger, and anyone else out on the road. It is wise to obey all road signs, signals and laws. They are set in place to protect us and others around us. Most importantly never drink and drive.
Friday is the most collision prone day of the week and collision rates are highest among drivers between the ages of 16 and 25 in Canada. One should always be alert and careful while driving and pay close attention to when the roads will be most active during long weekends.

Enjoying summer holidays and events with family and friends can be easy when you arrive to your destination safely.
