Ghouls and ghosts were a common sight over the Halloween weekend, with trick or treater’s buzzing through the streets of Swift Current.

Local resident, Pete Quebec received a staggering number of trick or treater's to his door this past Sunday.

“They started at two o'clock in the afternoon and they come until just about ten o'clock on Sunday night, and we had 502,” Pete stated.

While Quebec is used to seeing large amounts of trick or treater's on Halloween, he says this year is by far the most that he has received.

He states that in previous years, 150 to 200 knocks on the door are fairly average, but the last two years have seen a major incline.

Quebec notes that when his wife marked down 323 trick or treater's last year, he didn’t expect to see that number jump by nearly 200 in just one year.

He credits the record number to the weather as well as individuals feeling the need to get back out into society, adding that children and parents alike showed up with astonishing costumes.

Quebec says that he has no idea what to expect for next year.

“It's a guessing game,” he said. “It depends on the weather; I think like the weather wasn't that bad, you know it was pretty nice and the kids came out.”

He also thinks that the effort put in by his neighbours is a large reason their block received so much attention, with about seven houses lit up and decorated to be as spooky as possible.

Quebec says it takes about three days for him to decorate his own yard for Halloween.

“There isn't a spot that that hasn't got something on it and lit up and spooked,” he stated. “We've got a couple of guitar players out there and we got a skeleton that plays the harmonica, and we got a skeleton with a heartbeat that sits in a rocking chair with a skeleton dog on his lap.”

Quebec is now in the process of taking down the spooky decorations for the year, and preparing decorations for his other favourite holiday; Christmas.
