In addition to going into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Saturday night, Val Marie's Bryan Trottier will take part in a special "Bryan Trottier Day" meet and greet Sunday afternoon at Eagles Hall.

"I'm really proud to have him come and be with us," said organizer Cecile Blanke. "We have organized this special day, which has never happened before in Swift Current. Come out and meet our NHL hockey hero."

Trottier is apparently going to show off his musical talents as well.

"It's a really happy day for us to have him there," Blanke added. "A lot of people don't know he's an entertainer. He plays guitar and sings very well. He and his sister will be playing and entertaining the people."

Trottier started his career playing minor hockey in Swift Current and was eventually a star for the Broncos in the WHL. He went on to win six Stanley Cups as a player with Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders, and another as an Assistant Coach with Colorado.

He was inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, was added to the new Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in Swift Current on Saturday and is a member of the Broncos Hall of Fame.

The event is scheduled for 2pm Sunday and tickets are $10.

It's being put on by Prairie Dog Métis Local 1.3.2
