They're a familiar sight around the city every year at this time, the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign has kicked off for the holiday season.

Courtney Burley is kettle campaign coordinator this year and says kettles will be set up at various locations around Swift Current.

"This year in total we will have five Christmas kettles out. We will have one at Walmart, one at Canadian Tire, we will also have one in the Wheatland Mall outside of the Co-op and we will have our famous Christmas Room."

Burley says they're still in need of volunteers to man some kettle shifts.

"If anyone is wanting to volunteer for the Christmas Kettles, it's a two-hour shift. They can go ahead and give me a call at 306-741-4763. And it's just to volunteer a couple hours of your time and we can work around your schedule."

The kettle campaign will run until December 23.
