The Jimmy Richardson Walk for Wellness raised nearly $4000 for the Swift Current branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

It ran Saturday in Swift Current.

"We did pretty good in the end," said Ruth Smith, Executive Director of the local CMHA Branch. "We had quite a few clients walking to the walk so that's very good too."

"I think we had a very family feel, close knit kind of feeling and comfortable."

She is optimistic they raised some awareness with the money.

"I think we did," Smith said. "It's really nice to have that place out at market square... your face gets out there and people can come and ask you questions."

The money raised will go towards a new program van. They will now go shopping for one.

"We have one of our board member's husband out being the scout looking for one," Smith said. "We are going to get one. We have a budget, we don't want to spend more than $8000 to $10,000 so hopefully we'll have one in the near future."

They will combine the funds raised in the walk with some of the money they  have previously saved up from their budget to replace a program van that's in rough shape and Smith woudln't want to have to take into winter.
