Premier Brad Wall took part in a joint trade mission to Asia last week.

He says China and Japan are very knowledgeable about Saskatchewan's role in food production.  He says, "They're very knowledgeable about Saskatchewan, and they understood the leadership role we play internationally in terms of pulse crops, and a third of the world's supply comes from Saskatchewan.  They understood our leadership in mustard with over a quarter of the world's mustard coming from Saskatchewan; our leadership in durum with 80% of the country's crop in that respect; and a third of Canada's beef herd; our pork industry.  So there was a real knowledge of the powerhouse that Saskatchewan is as a supplier of food."

Wall was joined on the trip by the Premiers of Alberta and British Columbia as part of their "New West Partnership".

The trio opened a joint trade and investment office in Shanghai, China.
