Spring is in the air in Swift Current and an odour has come with it and the warmer weather.

The City said there could be a number of causes and that they aren't going to speculate on what the cause might be.

Consulting Medical Health Officer Dr. David Torr said that he believes the smell had to do with the warming temperature to the lagoons, and in that case, there is nothing to worry about.

"It's very temporary," he said. "The amount of concentration is more of a nuisance but not a danger to health. Some people are more sensitive than others and might feel nauseated or dizzy with the smells."

Torr said there would have to be a higher concentration to affect someone's health.

"It all depends on how much of a concentrate, but the concentration is not that high," he said. "The danger level would be enclosed spaces with very high levels of concentrations, and we typically don't tend too get that, with any of the lagoons."
