Hopefuls looking to make the Diamond Energy Wildcats roster attend the team's spring camp at the Fairview Arenas.

A promising future was on display at the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats spring camp Thursday and Friday.

Fifty-four players were on hand for the two-day female midget camp at the Fariview Arenas, and there appears to be some good prospects.

"We really like the depth we have at goal, I think there's a number of girls who can step in and possibly play," said Coach Terry Pavely. "Up front, we feel the numbers are very good in terms of depth, probably eight kids right now that we could foresee in our lineup."

Pavely says their returning veterans are strong on the blue line, but he wants to find a little more competition for them at training camp in August: "Some good, young defence... I'm not sure if they're quite ready, but we don't want our veteran 'D' to be complacent when they come to camp, we want to be able to push them a little bit."

The Wildcat hopefuls went through six on-ice sessions and a couple of presentations by coaches from in and outside of the program.
