Earlier this month, the Saskatchewan Worker's Compensation Board announced a proposal to reduce its average premium rate by 8.2 percent, to $1.69.

According to CEO Peter Federko, the decrease will continue to ensure that Saskatchewan's premiums remain competitive with other provinces.

Federko cites continuing declines in the provincial workplace injury rate, and injury claim durations as the reasons for the decrease.

After review and approval by WCB Board Members, the final rates will become effective January 1st.
