A Swift Current business is paying the price for a workplace injury almost two years ago.
Rock Solid Trucking Ltd. pled guilty to violating a pair of occupational health and safety regulations on April 20 in Swift Current Provincial Court costing them $37,100 (fine of $26,500 and a surcharge of $10,600).
The incident occurred at a worksite near Cadillac on August 18, 2020, where a worker was injured while using a loader.
The long-time local business pled guilty to;
- Not immediately fixing a defect or unsafe condition in a powered mobile unit resulting in a serious injury,
- and, failing to notify the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety as soon as reasonably possible that a worker was admitted to a hospital as an in-patient for 72 hours or more stemming from a serious injury.
Two other charges against Rock Solid Trucking Ltd. were stayed (the Crown decided not to prosecute).
